Everyone wants to remember perfectly what their newborn looked like. From the curl of their toes to the curve of their nose. And the best way to do this is with newborn photography. However not all photographers have a large closest of props for your newest addition. So how do you get the most perfect shots without the most expensive photographer with all of her props? There are a few simple ways so let me show you.
One of the first things you can do is pick out a theme you want for the shoot. whether this be as simple as a color scheme or as complex as a character theme. This will give your photographer an idea of the style you want and will help you in picking out what outfit to put your little guy in and what blanket or toys to bring along.
Are you wanting bare bum photos? Spice it up by adding bows, lace leggings, a hat, glasses, or anything else that fit you and your family. If you love books and wish to hand that down to your baby bring some of your favorites to the shoot. The photographer can easily add those in and what was a simple picture of your little ones tush now becomes a one of a kind image.
Is daddy a sports fan? Don't be afraid to bring some of his memorabilia along. A helmet, glove, or ball can easily add life to any shoot. Same goes for mommy's hobbies. Jewelry, fabrics, and anything of the like can be used as a prop to make your session unique to your family.
Don't worry about those cute furs or anything for the background. Most photographers will have that taken care of for you. However if you have a special blanket for the baby bring it along. A handmade quilt or just baby's first blanket can easily become a cute background or foreground for the photos and allows for a personal touch baby can take through growing up.
These were just a few ways to make sure your newborn's session is unique and special without spending a fortune on a specialty photographer who uses the same props for every baby. There are many more things you can do and usually everything you need you already have. Your child is only a newborn once so make sure you capture it perfectly. Don't forget to ask for close-ups of their toes, hands, and nose. And remember to relax and enjoy your session!
